Since ancient times, traditional Ayurvedic medicine has made use of triphala as a multi-purpose treatment for a wide variety of problems, ranging from digestive issues to dental cavities. Additionally, it is considered to improve longevity as well as general wellness. It is what’s known as a polyherbal medication, which simply means that it contains more than one type of medicinal herb.

Ayurvedic medicine, which is a traditional medical practise that places an emphasis on illness prevention and health promotion, frequently makes use of polyherbal preparations. It is widely held that the use of synergistic herbs in combination leads in increased therapeutic efficacy and is a more potent treatment than the use of any one component taken on its own. A blend of the dried fruits of three different Indian plants is called triphala.

These plants are: As a tridoshic rasayana, Triphala’s energetics are suitable for all types of patients, including those with Vata, Pitta, and Kapha doshas. Charak explains that rasayanas have the ability to strengthen both the body and the immune system. Due to these characteristics as well as the tonic energetics, Triphala is an option to consider for use in the very young, those who are ailing, and the elderly.

NUTRITIONAL VALUE OF TRIPHALA :

It has been suggested that the purported health advantages of triphala are due to the presence of many components inside the supplement, including carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, salt, dietary fibres, and the acids gallic acid, chebulagic acid, and chebulinic acid.

BENEFITS OF TRIPHALA :

  • Triphala has been shown to decrease cholesterol.

Because of the high concentration of oleic and linoleic oils found in triphala, it may be helpful in lowering the risk of developing cardiovascular disease. Linoleic oil is absolutely necessary for boosting levels of HDL cholesterol, also known as “good” cholesterol, while simultaneously lowering levels of LDL cholesterol, which is known as “bad” cholesterol.

  • Triphala for digestive system difficulties

The digestive aid known as triphala churna also has high efficacy as a laxative and can be utilised to encourage regular bowel movements. Before retiring to bed at night, people who have issues with their digestive system or their bowel movements can eat one spoonful of the Triphala powder. To say goodbye to bloating, a fussy stomach, or even diarrhoea, one can also take a spoonful first thing in the morning on an empty stomach with lots of water. This is the best way to achieve this.

  • It helps the body get rid of fat that it has stored more effectively when taken with triphala (Weight Loss Benefits)

This superfood serves to cleanse the digestive system and promote optimal nutritional intake, which allows for a more non-traditional approach to weight loss than simply cutting calories and ramping up physical activity. It has been shown that taking triphala can help with weight loss as well as the removal of belly fat. Inducing the release of cholecystokinin is how triphala churna exerts its influence on the centre that governs satiety.

This hormone conveys a signal to the brain, which prompts an accelerated feeling of fullness in the individual. Consume approximately a spoonful of triphala churna mixed with a cup of warm water three times each day to facilitate more rapid weight loss. Alternately, one may mix half a tablespoon of this churna with half a tablespoon of trikatu churna and some honey in water that has been warmed to lukewarm temperature and then consume this mixture both in the morning and at night.

  • Triphala dose for constipation

Triphala has been shown to be helpful in relieving constipation in some people. They find that drinking triphala churna helps keep their bowel movements regular. Every night before bed, one should drink a glass full of warm water with two teaspoons of triphala powder added to it. This will help relieve constipation.

  • Triphala boosts Immunity

The fact that triphala powder is high in vitamin C makes it not just an effective antioxidant but also a benefit to the immune system. In some circumstances, the high concentration of bioflavonoids that it contains has been shown to hasten the healing process.

Triphala assists in the cleansing of the stomach and the digestive tract, the improvement of blood circulation, and the nourishing of the body from the inside out by delivering the essential nutrients and minerals. Triphala also assists in the enhancement of the body’s natural resistance to disease.

When should we take Triphala :

Before retiring to bed at night, people who have issues with their digestive system or their bowel movements can eat one spoonful of the Triphala powder. One can also take one teaspoon first thing in the morning on an empty stomach with lots of water to say goodbye to bloating, a fussy stomach, or even diarrhoea.

How to take Triphala :

  • Triphala Tea – The tea form of triphala is the most common way to consume it. Ayurveda considers taste to be a significant component of the healing process, and this practise allows one to thoroughly taste the plant. Taste begins the digestion process and delivers messages to the body as to what to expect, launching your body’s own internal pharmacy before you ever eat.
  • Triphala Tablets – Before going to bed or first thing in the morning, a typical dosage would be two tablets, which would equal 1000 milligrammes. This could be a more practical approach, particularly for people who are constantly on the move, are pressed for time, or who dislike the flavour of triphala tea.
  • Triphala liquid extract –  An additional means of ingesting triphala is available in the form of triphala liquid extract. It has a long shelf life, is handy, and may be assimilated quickly and easily. This extract is prepared from the same fruits that are used to make the herbal tablets, which are certified organic, and grain alcohol that does not contain any GMOs or gluten is used in the extraction process.

A full dropper’s worth of the medication, or around thirty drops, should be mixed with one to two ounces of water or juice and consumed once to three times day, or as advised by your healthcare provider.
