In this article, we will hope to make a fair and distinguished argument on the Science Vs Arts debate. Many have discussed this topic for many years, yet there has been no concrete proof as to which is better.

No subject is greater than the others, and no stream can survive on its own. Each topic may differ in its methodology, career prospects and salary expectations, experience level, etc. The main emphasis of any student should be on the kind of knowledge and approach he or she values over others. Some students naturally bend toward the “artistic” subjects, while others are born “logistic machines”. The winner of the Science Vs Arts debate is just like Art; it is entirely subjective.

It may be due to the subjective nature of the debate. Also, it may be as to which pointers are kept in mind while establishing which is better among Science Vs Arts, such as in terms of personality developments, salary expectations, job satisfaction, industry growth rate, promotion rate, level of exposure, autonomy in the job profile, etc. and Difference between Science and Arts.

The answers to all the above questions can be different for different people. And so, to establish a winner in the Science Vs Arts debate is almost impossible. But in the article below, we will briefly touch upon themes that we know are important for everyone, such as salary hikes and perks, level of freedom, etc., and look at each from the Arts and Science angle. We will not hope to establish a “winner” among the two, but instead, we will develop the positives and negatives of each and let the real judge, that is, you decide.

What is Arts?

Arts or the Arts stream is one of the traditional streams in India and probably the world as a whole. It includes “humanities” subjects like visual arts, literary arts, performing arts, etc. Some of these subjects are compulsory to study on international boards and are generally referred to as humanities subjects. The stream of Arts is very diverse and includes varied topics in its realm, from visual arts such as sculpting, painting, etc., to performing arts, including theatre, drama, plays, etc. The Arts stream also includes literary arts such as the study of languages, literature, philosophy, etc. The other subjects under the stream include the study of History, Geography, Political Science, etc. If you have a particular interest in subjects like English, Political Science, Geography, History, and Economics, then arts is the perfect stream. There are many Arts and Humanities Courses After 12th

What is Science?

Our second contender in the Science Vs Arts in Science. Science is in many respects the opposite of Arts in terms of its focus and methodology and the critical areas of the brain and personality it develops and changes. The knowledge of an analytical and numerical subject, studied in an organized and systematic manner, is the essence of ScienceScience. The topics under this stream include the prominent sciences, such as Physics, Chemistry, and Physics, and branches of these three, such as Ecology, Meteorology, Mycology, Botany, Zoology, Oceanography, etc. It is a multidisciplinary field, just like Arts.

Now that we know the fundamental difference between Science and Arts in terms of their subjects and methodology, we can move on and see how studying each change or improves us for future job prospects.

Importance of studying Arts?

Studying Arts changes the entire physiology of the person. Studying Arts first and foremost encourages the “aesthetic” side of the brain. It encourages young people to learn about the graceful nature of artworks, such as beauty, proportion, etc. They know to examine conflict, power struggles, a conflict between the world’s leading economies, etc. Studying Arts helps sensitize the students to the aesthetic factors in the artworks and the world in general in terms of tragedy, empathy, etc.

Studying Arts also helps students develop leadership skills, including decision making, strategy building, reflection or planning, etc. They create the confidence and identity of the candidate, and abilities are developed to use those skills in real life.

Art students are also rich in learning and expanding their knowledge base of the student. A report by the American Association proves that students who are regularly studying any of the Arts subjects are more likely to be recognized for their academic achievements early on in their careers. Studying Arts also encourages students to develop vocabulary and memory, develop new concepts, and understand them easily. Students of Arts have a sharpened sense of critical intellectual skills that carry over to other academic areas. They learn to observe, interpret and see something through different angles and perspectives, analyzing and synthesizing in other areas of academic subjects. Enhancing creativity, and developing top skills in various educational arenas, showing greater flexibility and adaptability in thinking and problem-solving. Children learn habits, attitudes, and behaviours in terms of performance in curriculum and decrease disciplinary referrals.

Importance of Studying Science?

Studying ScienceScience is essential for students as it teaches an understanding and a heightened sense of natural phenomena. Science stimulates the analytical and logical base of the brain and increases the investigative and enquiring side of the brain as well. It encourages critical thought, and logical reasoning and thus makes the candidate more prone to looking at the world through an analytical lens instead of looking at it through a creative lens as the Arts students do, a plus point for Arts in the Science Vs Arts debate.

Students, along with developing positive and remarkable progress in areas of studies, also challenge the brain in different ways. It is also easier for students to find the specializing fields of interest for students.

In short, it develops an individual’s ability to reason logically and analytically. Firstly, ScienceScience helps in the understanding of the world and the universe. The Science stream also includes one of the oldest and most important subjects necessary to understand the natural world’s various natural and man-made phenomenons. Science is one of the most fundamental subjects in STEM, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Human progress mapping and theories of the natural phenomenon have primarily rested on the advances in the Science field. The world is better understood through ScienceScience, and it is written down through the Arts. Science also helps in forecasting the next wave of progress, medical sciences, and other technical areas of the population’s daily lives. So the Science field is among the best fields for students who wish to advance in the world through scientific revolutions. There are vast Options of courses after 12th for science students.

Difference between Science and Arts

The Science Vs Arts debate will be incomplete without analyzing the essential academic qualifications of both fields. The Arts field has a Bachelor in Arts degree (B.A), and the Science field has the primary Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.). The methodology of teaching both these courses differ in their methods:

B.A.: Bachelor of Arts degree is a U.G. program that specializes in the Liberal Arts, including subjects of literature, philosophy, social sciences, etc. A B.A. is usually for around three to four years. For students to stand out in the crowd, a B.A. degree is crucial; in the U.S., it is compulsory. They approached the academic qualification with innovative and new approaches to understanding any field’s fundamental values and ideas in the Arts stream. The streams covered in this stream encourage students to make convincing arguments and improve their skills of debating and creative thinking. A B.A. serves as a foundational base of knowledge for students to increase or at least start developing the “aesthetic” sides of the students in the future courses they opt for or hope to pursue.

B.Sc: The Bachelor in Science degree is specifically designed to study the hard sciences of physics, chemistry, and biologies, including mathematics and computing degrees. It is usually for three to five years. It tends to focus on subject areas and prepare students for a career in professional and well-paid engineering fields, etc. The B.Sc has a systematic and logical approach to studies instead of the arts fields. The students focus on studying with a problem solving, interpretive approach, synthesis of extensive data, logical reasoning, etc. There is plenty of room for students to specialize in the fields of the hard sciences. Studying B.Sc ensures that the students succeed in any scientific or mathematical field they wish to pursue in the future. A B.Sc degree serves as a foundational base for developing analytical, logical, and mathematical skills and practical training.

We have tabulated some of the essential critical points between the two.

Main Point B.A B.Sc

Duration 3 or 4 years Three years

Average Fee Rs. 4,000 to Rs.65,000 Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 25,000

Career Prospects Wide and varied Select a few in the STEM fields

Average salary Depends on experience Depends on experience

How are Arts and Science similar?

Throughout our schooling lives, we have been taught that arts and ScienceScience both require different and often opposite approaches to study, that there is something called a Science Vs Arts debate. The areas of focus of each stream are other, and so are the result of learning. That is in terms of career choices, etc.

However, will you be surprised if I say both Arts and Science are the same things? Arts = Science. Both Arts and Science are human attempts to understand the world and universe, the natural laws of the world, and the natural laws of humans. Yes, the subject matter is different, and so are the qualities that are improved after studying Arts and Science, respectively, but the goals and end products are the same. Whether you become an engineer or a teacher, a painter or a scientist, your goal will always be to push the human race forward by creating and understanding the depths of the human and natural order, either through experiments in ScienceScience, or literary works of Art.

How are Arts and Science different?

Just like that, Arts and Science also have differences apart from the very obvious approaches and methodology and subject matter. One of the most significant differences between Arts and Science is that arts are subjective; it gives a lot more freedom to the student in terms of understanding and practice. However, ScienceScience is objective; there is no room for personal judgments and interpretations in ScienceScience. The second and perhaps a minute difference between Arts and Science is that Art is the expression of knowledge, either through poetry, novels, or artwork. On the other hand, science is acquiring knowledge rather than expressing the already acquired knowledge.

Science Vs Arts in Conclusion:

We hope this article helped you distinguish and gain more profound knowledge into the Science Vs Arts debate.
